Flag football tourney at New Era Field benefits Special Olympics

Always dreamed of playing football on the turf at New Era Field?

You’ll have the opportunity to do so next month – and raise money for the Special Olympics at the same time.

Special Olympics New York Western Region looks to field as many as 64 teams to play 6-on-6 flag football March 11 for the Buffalo Snow Bowl at the Orchard Park stadium.

Teams that pay $50 to sign up – and raise at least $1,000 – are guaranteed to play at least three games.

Register at buffalosnowbowl.org in one of four “leagues”:  rookie, pro, coed or corporate. Each team may have up to 10 members.

“All the proceeds from this event benefit over 68,000 Special Olympic Athletes in New York State,” said Erica Raepple, the nonprofit’s director of development in Western New York.
