Buffalo police rescue man from car that burst into flames after crash

An unidentified Buffalo man in his early 20s remains in serious condition in  Erie County Medical Center after Buffalo police rescued him from a burning car shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was a passenger in a car that collided head-on with another car at East Ferry Street and Goodyear Avenue, then careened into a parked car, according to police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge. Both drivers fled from the scene as the car containing the victim burst into flames, police said.

Three Ferry-Fillmore unit officers arriving at the crash scene pulled the man from the burning car, said DeGeorge, who added that an investigation is underway.
