A Grand Island man was captured by Kenmore Police Friday about an hour after he tried to drive away with 30 steel pipes stolen Friday from a Tonawanda Street steel products company.
Ryan Hudson, 29, of Bedell Road was taken into custody about 5:40 p.m., after he fled when a company official confronted him loading the pipes into his vehicle in the 100 block of Tonawanda Street, authorities said. The pipes were valued at $1,500.
Hudson was charged with a felony count of fourth-degree grand larceny, and his vehicle was impounded by Buffalo police. He remained in custody in Erie County Holding Center Saturday night.
