Iraq War vet may clear up criminal charges through Veterans Court

Jacob Schiller, 33, a decorated  Army veteran of two tours of Iraq war duty, on Thursday got a chance to clean up his criminal history.

Amherst Town Justice Geoffrey K. Klein agreed to consider sentencing the Broadway resident to the Buffalo City Court's Veterans Court after he pleaded guilty to petit larceny for thefts from a 7-Eleven store on Transit Road late last Oct. 8.

Defense attorney Andrew C. LoTempio said the 7-Eleven arrest will be wiped off Schiller's records should he successfully complete his Veterans Courts sessions over the next year. Schiller was allowed to remain free until sentencing scheduled for March 7.
