Autism Services will start moving into its new school in Amherst next week.
The nonprofit, which provides educational and support services for children and adults with autism-spectrum disorders, is moving from its longtime location at 4444 Bryant and Stratton Way near the Eastern Hills Mall in Clarence to Uniland Development Co.'s Audubon Business Centre.
Autism Services will have its school, including its first gym, at 30 Hazelwood Drive, and its offices next door at 40 Hazelwood, between Niagara Falls Boulevard and Sweet Home Road.
Uniland in December started renovations on the buildings, including customizing the 50,000 square feet of space to meet the specialized needs of Autism Services' clients. Uniland was finishing up the work by Friday.
Autism Services started moving its administration functions into the office building on Tuesday, and planned to work through the weekend to have that move finished by next Tuesday, said Veronica Federiconi, the agency's CEO. The move into the school will take place next week, while students are on vacation, so that they can begin classes in their new building on Feb. 27.
