LaSalle at St. Bonaventure
7 p.m. at the Reilly Center
TV: Time Warner Sports
Records: Bona 15-9, 7-5. LaSalle 13-10, 7-5.
The Set-Up: It's a big game between teams battling for fifth place in the Atlantic 10. LaSalle has lost five of its last seven, but the Explorers are a good offensive team. It should be an entertaining game. Bona is coming off a loss at George Washington but remains in position to finish 5-1 or 4-2, which would give it 19 or 20 regular-season wins. The top four in the A-10 get a bye to the quarterfinals. It will be tough for Bona to climb to fourth due to tie-breaker disadvantages.
Explorer Update: The addition of transfers has boosted LaSalle, which went 9-22 last year. Power forward B.J. Johnson, a 6-7 junior, is a Philly product and former top-100 recruit who transferred from Syracuse. He's sixth in the A-10 in points (18.2) and 11th in rebounds (6.3). Small forward Jordan Price, a 6-5 senior, is in his third season at LaSalle after transferring from Auburn. He averages 16.5 ppg. Big man Demetrius Henry (6.0) came from South Carolina. Memphis Transfer Pookie Powell (13.4) has missed the last six games with a leg injury.
Key stats: LaSalle is 56th in the nation in three-point percentage and fifth in the A-10 in scoring. But the Explorers are 345th in the nation in three-point defensive percentage (.402). They're 11th in the A-10 in points allowed. Bona is fourth.
