Former nursing home aide admits stealing money from patient

LOCKPORT – A former nursing home aide who stole $3,400 from a patient accepted a plea offer Wednesday in State Supreme Court.

Amanda N. Kissell, 34, of Ashland Avenue, Niagara Falls, faces up to four years in prison when sentenced April 13 by Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. on a felony charge of attempted third-degree grand larceny.

Kissell stole and forged checks from the checkbook of a female patient in Niagara Rehabilitation Center in the Falls between Dec. 23, 2015, and April 19, 2016, said Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth R. Donatello.

Full restitution will be part of the sentence.
