City Hallways (Feb. 14): 'Love is in the air'

It's going to be a busy Valentine's Day in the City Clerk's office, which has 10 weddings scheduled for today.

City Hall weddings aren't usually performed on Tuesdays. They are done on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

But Deputy City Clerk Tianna Marks said she decided to make an exception to accommodate the Valentine's Day requests.

"Love is in the air," Marks said.

City Hall security, Part 2

The X-ray machines are in.

And once security staff gets trained, visitors to City Hall will be able to put their purses, briefcases and the like through the X-ray machines, rather than having the items subject to visual and hand checks by City Hall security officers as is done now.

At the fire hall

There's been a leadership change at the Buffalo firefighter's union, Local 282. The new president is Vince Ventresca.

Today's calendar items

Council committee meetings start with Civil Service and Finance in the morning, then Community Development and Legislation in the afternoon.
