Cab driver robbed at gunpoint in Niagara Falls

A man robbed a cab driver at gunpoint Sunday morning on Spring Street in Niagara Falls, according to a city police report.

The cab driver told police he picked up the man at Tops Markets on Portage Road. Once they arrived at apartments on the 2600 block of Spring Street the man put a gun to the taxi driver's neck and demanded money, the report said.

The man stole cash and the driver's cell phone. The gunman was described as a black male, about 40 years old, who was 6-feet tall and 165 pounds, according to the report. He wore a yellow hooded sweatshirt and jeans. He ran east from the scene towards Main Street.
