State police charged a Wheatfield man with aggravated driving while intoxicated following a two-car crash Friday night on River Road .
Troopers were called to the scene of the crash about 7 p.m. at the intersection of York and River roads. When they arrived, they observed that one of the operators had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath.
After a field sobriety test, Eric Lambert, 35, of Wheatfield was taken into custody and transported to State Police barracks for processing where a breath test showed his blood alcohol to be .27 percent, more than three times the legal limit.
Lambert was charged with aggravated DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation due to having a suspended license.
He was arraigned in the Town of Wheatfield Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of bail.
