West Seneca man charged with aggravated DWI after Thruway crash

A West Seneca man drove off the Thruway into a guardrail Wednesday night and later was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, according to the State Police.

The crash happened shortly before midnight near the Route 400 exit in West Seneca, police said.

Thomas J. Kennedy, 37, was not injured. He was arrested at the scene and found to be in possession of a Hydrocodone pill. At the Buffalo barracks, Kennedy registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent, State Police said.

In addition to aggravated DWI, he was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance not in its original container and several traffic violations.

He is due in West Seneca Town Court on Feb. 17.
