Garden Notes for Feb. 10-17, 2017

Western New York Hosta Society will meet Sunday in the East Aurora Senior Center, King Street at Oakwood Avenue, East Aurora. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.; program begins at 2 p.m. Kathy Guest Shadrack will present “Shady Characters: Common and Not So Common Plants for the Sun-Challenged Garden.” Free admission, door prizes and refreshments. East Aurora Garden Club will meet at noon Monday in St. Matthias Episcopal Church, Main and Maple streets, East Aurora. Park in rear. Members will make nosegays for Meals on Wheels clients for Valentine’s Day under the direction of Lynn Wilkins, club co-vice president. Guests welcome. Call 980-3202 or 652-4985.

Cheektowaga Garden Club will meet at 6:45 p.m. Monday in the Cleveland Hill faculty lunchroom, Mapleview Road. Use playground entrance. The club will celebrate its 70th birthday following a workshop on creating a succulent dish garden. Cost for the workshop is $5. New members welcome.

Kenmore Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Kenmore United Methodist Church, 52 Landers Road. Linda Blyth, owner and grower of Song n’ Bird Gardens and a longtime club member, will present a program on the September flower show, “Legends” and the Book of Evidence submitted for a local and state awards. Photos of plants available at this year’s plant sale will also be shown. Guests welcome.

Evans Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Angola Public Library for a craft night in preparation of its annual plant sale in May.

Federated Holland Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Brink Memorial Community Center, Legion Drive, Holland. Following a business meeting, election of officers and luncheon, a representative from Mischler’s Florist in Williamsville will present a demonstration and workshop on creating fairy gardens. Forest Stream Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Village at North Church, 214 Village Park Drive, Williamsville (at North Forest and Union roads). Babbidean Huber, master gardener, will present “Landscape Design.” All welcome.
