An East Aurora man faces charges of sexually abusing a child.
Charles Ernst, 33, pleaded not guilty to predatory sexual assault against a child, a class A felony, at his arraignment arraigned in Erie County Court Thursday morning.
Ernst was arrested Aug. 31 following an investigation prompted by information obtained by Child Protective Services.
Prosecutor Bethany A. Solek asked Judge Michael Pietruszka to deny bail, adding that Ernst no longer has a job and that jailhouse phone calls indicated he would have nowhere to live were he to be released.
The judge ordered that Ernst be remanded and issued a temporary order of protection for the alleged victim until the case is resolved.
