The tender embrace of Babyface

R&B stalwart Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds has filled a variety of roles throughout his soulful career. But for the artist behind such meteoric '90s hits as “When Can I See You” and memorable collaborations with Mariah Carey, his top job has always been as one of his era’s silkiest singers, as should still be evident when he performs at 8 p.m. Feb.  11 at the Seneca Niagara Casino Events Center (310 4th Street, Niagara Falls).

Now years past the nights when many of his chart-topping hits were a mandatory complement to long-stem roses, massage oils and moonlight, the Indianapolis native’s candlelit tenderness hasn’t receded. It's still evident on his recent Grammy-winning album with Toni Braxton (“Love, Marriage & Divorce”) and 2015’s critically acclaimed “Return of the Tender Lover.”

And though his varied resume includes accolades as one of pop and R&B’s most accomplished producers—responsible for hits from everyone from Michael Jackson to Ariana Grande—his ability to connect vocally on relatable themes like love, heartbreak and emotional recovery still resonates as much as it ever did.

Tickets start at $45 and can be purchased at 8 Clans or the Players Club Store inside Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, ticketmaster.com or call (800) 745-3000.
