Mother Nature is expected to dole out a mixed bag of rain and snow this week, but by Monday night, it may be time to haul out the rain gear.
Monday will see cloudy skies and daytime temperatures in the mid-30s for metro Buffalo, and a bit warmer in the Southern Tier. But by Monday night, freezing rain could change over to rain overnight, with temperatures in the 30s and rising.
Rain will continue throughout Tuesday, with highs in the mid-40s. Rain could total half an inch in metro Buffalo with as much as an inch in the Southern Tier.
On Wednesday, lake-effect rain may change over to lake-effect snow into Thursday, said Bill Hibbert, National Weather Service meteorologist in Buffalo, who added that the long-range forecast looks to be "a rollercoaster of cold and warm, cold and warm."
