A 14-year-old Conewango boy was killed Friday in a logging accident, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office.
The boy, whose identity was withheld, was a member of the Amish community, authorities said. A 911 call reporting the logging accident came into the sheriff's office just before 9 a.m., according to authorities.
Conewango and Ellington fire companies, along with Randolph Emergency Services, were dispatched to the scene of the accident on a wooded hillside near 5782 Northeast Road. New York State Forest Rangers and a doctor from Cattaraurgus County Emergency Services also responded, but the boy was unable to be revived, the sheriff's office said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
