Kenmore warns that police phone number has been 'spoofed'

Kenmore is warning residents that its police department's non-emergency phone number has been "spoofed" and is falsely showing up on caller ID.

"Be aware, the Kenmore Police Department will not call you about unpaid debts or fines," the village said in a Facebook post.

Any communication from the village comes via mail and on official village letterhead, officials said.

If you receive an unexpected call from the police non-emergency number – 716-875-1234 – and the caller says he or she is a Kenmore police officer, the village advises hanging up and calling the police department back.
