Amherst man gets stiff jail term for bail jumping

Robert J. Warcholak, 43, of Clinton Street, Amherst, was ordered by Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul S. Piotrowski Thursday to serve a one-year jail term for second-degree bail jumping.

The conviction stems from his initial arrest last year in a criminal contempt case linked to a domestic incident. Warcholak was arrested by Cheektowaga police in November after he failed to show for a town court proceeding in the domestic case.

In imposing the maximum allowable jail term, the judge cited Warcholak's lengthy criminal history and his numerous refusals and failures to complete court-ordered drug treatment programs.
