Sub shop deliveryman paid with counterfeit bills

An Elmwood Avenue fast food restaurant told Buffalo police that one of its workers received counterfeit money while delivering food Tuesday afternoon on Rees Street.

A customer using the name "Janice Watson" ordered $49.46 in food from Jimmy Johns Subs, police said.

When the driver arrived at the address and called the suspect there was no answer, police said. Upon the second call, the suspect answered, and a short time later police reported he approached the deliveryman and handed him two $20 bills, one $10 dollar bill and a dollar bill all rolled up. The dollar bill was on the outside, police said.

Police said that when the deliveryman returned to the shop, he inspected the money and discovered that $50 was counterfeit.
