Apparently a little time on the injured list did Sierra Lassman of Niagara Wheatfield's bowling team some good.
She was on the sidelines because of a sprained ankle. But she pronounced herself healthy and took part in the Niagara Frontier League championship. Sierra's three games on average were more than 30 pins better than her usual total, and it gave her the title.
Lassman obviously is peaking at the right time, as the sectionals are coming up soon. She's saluted here as the Prep Talk Girls' Athlete of the Week.
Coach Rich Maloney on Sierra: "She is a hard worker and comes to the lanes wanting to get better. Sierra has her rough days when we work on certain things. When they don't work out she stays a little longer to work on her game. She also attends all optional practices and give me a full effort. As a teammate, she is a great one -always there to cheer her teammates on when the match is either close or already won. All in all Sierra is a pleasure to have on the team and always has a smile on her face."
