17-year-old killed, two 14-year-olds critical after car strikes tree in Buffalo

A 17 year old boy died and three 14-year-old girls were injured after a car struck a tree in Buffalo early Wednesday, according to Buffalo police.

Two of the three girls are in critical condition following the one-vehicle crash, which happened at about 12:28 a.m. on Kensington Avenue near Castle Place, just west of Grider Street.

The third girl is listed in stable condition, police said.

All four were taken to Erie County Medical Center by ambulance. The 17-year-old driver died at the hospital, according to police.

Investigators believe the vehicle was heading east on Kensington when the driver lost control. Police are investigating the crash, including whether speed was a factor.

Police have not released any names of those involved.
