Monday's pile-up on Grand Island Bridge was second in two weeks

Extremely slippery road conditions Monday resulted in a chain reaction collision in the southbound lane of the Interstate-190 at the North Grand Island Bridge, according to Grand Island Fire Chief  Chris Soluri.

The 6 a.m. early rush hour pile-up was the second multi-vehicle accident to occur at that location within the past two weeks, he added.

One motorist who was not identified was treated at the scene and then transported to Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, for additional medical attention.

Three people were evaluated by the fire company emergency medical services technicians at the scene, but none claimed any injuries. Rescue workers checked Robert Vaughan, 52,  and Peter Shea, 27, both of Youngstown, and Ryan Chambers, 28, of Niagara Falls.
