Thieves over the weekend struck a construction site on Porter Avenue for the second time, pulling $5,000 in copper wiring from light standards near the Shoreline Bike Trail, Central District police reported.
Approximately 2,000 linear feet of wire was reported taken from the vicinity of 40 Porter Ave. on Monday morning, police said.
It was the second time that a large quantity of copper wire had been stolen from the construction site, police said. Wiring valued at $5,000 was reported missing from light standards along the Shoreline Bike Trail on Dec. 28, police said.
That theft cut power to about 30 lights along the trail.
