New Children's Hospital outpatient center on Medical Campus to open Tuesday

The long-anticipated move of Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus takes its first step on Tuesday.

That’s when seven clinics from the hospital, including  dermatology and dental services, are set to open in the new Oishei Children’s Outpatient Center in the Conventus building at 1001 Main St.

The outpatient center will open in three phases over the next nine months.

Eight more clinics will move on April 3, followed by the final 21 outpatient clinics in October.

The Conventus building sits next to the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital now under construction at 818 Ellicott St.

The 12-story, 410,000-square-foot facility has 185 beds and will house inpatient services and the emergency department.

Those services will make a highly choreographed move over to the new facility in November, Allegra Jaros, Children’s president, told The News earlier this month.

The entire project, including the Oishei Children’s Hospital and the Oishei Children’s Outpatient Center, has a price tag of $270 million.
