Traffic stop ends in three arrested on weapon and drug charges

Three people were arrested on weapons and drug charges after their car was pulled over on Warrick Avenue Wednesday night.

The driver made an illegal U-turn on Olympic Avenue about 8 p.m. Wednesday night, prompting the stop, police said.

Elijah Watkins, 25, of Riley Street, Marquel Smith, 23, of Reo Avenue, Cheektowaga and Siobhan Pratcher, 18, of Victoria Avenue, were charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Buffalo police reported finding in the vehicle a .40 caliber pistol loaded with five bullets. The car was impounded by police after the arrests.

According to a police, a bag of what was suspected to be heroin was found in the vehicle. The suspects were also charged with felony tampering with physical evidence after two plastic bags of cocaine were found crushed and destroyed in the police vehicle the suspects were put into, according to the report.
