Drug store worker charged with stealing $1,000 worth of painkillers

A 31-year-old Buffalo woman was arrested for grand larceny after she stole nearly $1,000 of prescription painkiller pills from a Rite Aid Pharmacy in South Buffalo.

Angelina Phillips of South Ryan Street, who worked as a pharmacy employee in the store at 1941 Seneca, is accused of taking hydrocodone pills valued at $963 and placing them in a different bottle to get them out of the store without permission.

She also allegedly tried to leave the store with two bags of merchandise, valued at $254, but fled without them when she was confronted by other workers.

She was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, and both third-degree and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
