Wallet thief makes quick use of Niagara Falls woman's credit card

NIAGARA FALLS – A LaSalle woman whose wallet was stolen from her purse as she shopped Friday at the Super Walmart on Military Road discovered a credit card was used to ring up nearly $800 in fraudulent purchases.

Police said the theft occurred about 11 a.m. and, when the victim went to her bank to cancel the card, it already had been used to make purchases at the nearby Fashion Outlets Mall – one for almost $300 at the Timberland store and another for nearly $500 at the Sunglass Hut. Bank officials told the victim another purchase attempt at a Kay Jewelers store had been denied by the bank.

Police are examining video surveillance from the stores.
