We must pursue peace, avoid a war with Russia

I don’t mean to damper your holiday but has anyone else noticed that our government is pushing for a war against Russia? I’m sure most Americans don’t know that there are some 300,000 NATO troops on the Russian border, including strike forces. It seems to me that the warmakers in our government were banking on the election of Hillary Clinton. When Donald Trump was elected, it threw a monkey wrench into the plans.

The warmakers in our government, like Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and others, are trying to persuade Trump to go along with the program, much like when U.S. warmongers were trying to pressure President John Kennedy into a nuclear war with the former Soviet Union in the 1960s.

Now the election of Trump is being blamed on Russian hackers. Anything to stir up an excuse to invade Russia. I know a few people who voted for Trump precisely because he has friendly relations with Vladimir Putin and could avoid war. May I remind my fellow citizens that over 20 million people died in World War I and over 50 million people were killed in World War II. A world war with Russia will make those wars seem like a picnic in the park. Do we really want another inter-imperialist war that possibly could mean the total destruction of human civilization?

Call your representatives. Write letters and emails. Get active for peace! Oppose war plans with Russia.
