Man arrested in South Buffalo on robbery charges

A Payne Avenue man was arrested on the corner of Payne and Folger Street in South Buffalo at about 5:30 p.m. Monday for his alleged role in a violent robbery of an 81-year-old woman in the first block of Payne at about 1 p.m.,  according to Buffalo police documents and an arrest report.

Michael J. Czuprynski, 38, was charged with third-degree robbery, second-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing in connection with the incident, according to the Buffalo police report.

Czuprynski is accused of allegedly walking up behind the woman, choking and bruising her, and also stealing $42 from her, according to a police department complaint.
