Converted corner Corey White to start at safety

With James Ihedigbo joining fellow safeties Aaron Williams, Robert Blanton and Colt Anderson on injured reserve this week, the Bills will be forced to use some interesting safety combinations Sunday.

Rex Ryan said converted cornerback Corey White will get the majority of the reps against the Browns, “but you’ll see some other guys getting some opportunities also.”

“I’m looking forward to it. I’m a full-time safety now,” White said. “I can’t wait.”

Has he ever played safety before?

“Yeah – in backyard football,” he said.

“It’s a big difference. You gotta be more of a leader,” he added. “You gotta see the whole field, not just half of it. You gotta know the whole defense, what the linebackers do, the lineman. I can take it. I knew the whole defense even when I was a corner, but that’s the biggest challenge, just getting the defense down. Everything else is just football.”

Ihedigbo suffered a fractured leg bone against the Steelers, but Ryan said he finished the game with the injury.

"I knew he was hurt," White said, "but I'm thinking like after-game soreness. He was in a boot (Monday) and I was like, 'Wow, man, you played through that?'

"He's a way better man than me, I guess. Tough cat."
