Letter: Sanitizing literature would be big mistake

Sanitizing literature would be big mistake

Gary Earl Ross’ Another Voice column objecting to the banning of books using “inappropriate” language is spot on. When we begin sanitizing literature in a misguided attempt to create “safe” places in academe, we rob literature of its most important cultural function – telling the truth, however painful or inconvenient the truth might be.
