Howard Street home damaged in late morning blaze

A house in the William-Jefferson neighborhood sustained about $30,000 in damage in a fire late Wednesday morning.

The blaze at 473 Howard St. started in a crawl space and extended to the second floor. Firefighters declared the blaze "under control" at 11:16 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
