UB student, 18, linked to campus burglaries

Daniel Soares, 18,  was identified Tuesday by authorities as the person named in a felony arrest warrant obtained by the University at Buffalo's University Police, in connection with what were described as "multiple recent break-ins into a UB administrative building," according to university police.

Soares, described as a UB undergraduate from Suffolk County, who is now believed to have fled the area, is charged in the warrant with burglary, attempted burglary and possession of burglar's tools, according to university police.

Gerald W. Schoenle Jr., UB's chief of police, said his agency is working with a number of law enforcement agencies on the case.

Soares also faces proceedings before UB's Judicial Affairs agency for allegedly violating the law and the university's code of conduct, according to a release from university police.
