When you think of an art museum filled with priceless works of art, you might think it would be a little - I don't know - maybe stuffy? But, not the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. At least I've never felt that way, and I've been bringing my kids there for many years.
The staff is always so friendly. They want to engage children, they'd love to create art lovers, future members. So, when they have an amazing exhibit, like "Picasso: The Artist and his Models," they want to show it off to anyone and everyone. Even babies.
My baby, Ella and I popped in for a stroller tour and had a fabulous time. There was a smile painted on her face just about the whole time. The tours are very casual and cater to little ones. The tour guide walks you and baby through the beautiful rooms, briefly discussing the amazing art. Think about it, your cutie pie can check out colors and shapes. Its' everything they are learning about in their little world. It's a nice way to get your child interested in the colorful and interesting art world. I got the impression that Picasso's "Three Musicians" was Ella's favorite.
We also popped in for a story hour that was taking place in the gallery. The little kids on their little mats, listening to stories about art. Yes, actually listening. They seemed pretty intrigued.
I've taken my 4-year-old to a few art classes which have always been fun, but this was the baby's first time there. We strolled along until she had enough, then we went on our own for a bit and checked out the store and walked around. I didn't let her get too close to the art due to what I imagine is some type of "you break it, you buy it" rule. Ouch.
With the temps dipping, it's nice to keep your little sweetie indoors and still have some fun. So, bundle them up and head over to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery where you can stroll around, grab some culture, learn some colors, and hello - see some Picassos.
