National Grid crews were working in South Buffalo to install a temporary overhead line to compensate for a failed underground cable that knocked out power to over 250 customers Friday and also affected some stop lights earlier in the day, according to Kathy Hill, a spokeswoman for the utility, on Friday evening.
Some were still affected later in the day on Friday. The work will mean that 187 customers in South Buffalo will likely continue to be without power until about 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, the spokeswoman said.
National Grid crews will continue to work on the line installation until early Saturday morning, Hill told The Buffalo News on Friday evening.
Mercy Hospital was not affected by the outage, a Catholic Health spokesman said late Friday.
