Niagara deputies report two robberies and one similar description of suspect

LOCKPORT - A woman who robbed a Lockport gas station Wednesday night matches the description of a thief who held up a Wheatfield gas station earlier in the day, Niagara County Sheriff's deputies said.

The woman robbed the Crosby's gas station, 4531 Lake Ave., at 8:43 p.m., according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

A Kwik Fill on Niagara Falls Boulevard was robbed at 3:06 p.m.

The woman in both robberies was described as black, 5-foot-3 and heavyset. She wore a black pea coat with a hood and a flat-brimmed hat.

Investigators from the sheriff's office have not said whether or not they believe it is the same suspect in both cases.

In both robberies, the woman threatened the store clerk with a gun and demanded money, but did not display a weapon.

After the Lockport robbery, the woman got into a dark-colored sedan waiting at the roadside and drove away.

Anyone who may have information about the Crosby's robbery should call Investigator John Wick at (716) 438-3342 or the Niagara County Sheriff's Office main line at (716) 438-3393.
