Leave it to a guy whose first name is often mispronounced to find out how to pronounce Khalil.
Ian Eagle, whose first name is pronounced I-an and not E-an, told UB play-by-play man Paul Peck that the Raider public relations staff and Mack told him he now wanted his first name pronounced with the first part emphasized, KAH-leel, instead of the way it was said during Mack’s UB career.
“He never corrected me after four years of saying Ka-leel,” Peck responded in a tweet Sunday after Eagle used the different pronunciation during the Bills-Raiders game.
“That never came up at UB,” added Peck Monday in a text response to me. “He never really corrected anyone at UB. Probably didn’t feel it was his place. ... Ian could have been the first guy to ask.”
If so, it shows how much Eagle prepares to do a game.
