NIAGARA FALLS – A man being pursued by police who was wanted on a warrant for robbery jumped out of a second-story window early Thursday trying to evade capture, according to a city police report.

Tywaun L. Barnes, 35, was spotted by an officer driving by as he was walking on the 1900 block of Pine Avenue at about 1:40 a.m. Barnes turned onto 20th Street and began to run when the officer turned around and headed down 20th Street, according to the police report.

Barnes ran into a home on the 700 block of 20th Street and locked the door behind him, police said. Several officers who arrived at the scene were given access to the building by a tenant who told police Barnes may be up to the vacant third floor.

As police went up the stairs, Barnes jumped head-first through the screens of a second-story window. He landed on his feet but was taken into custody, according to the report.
