Hamister buys three Indiana hotels

Hamister Group LLC said Thursday that it has acquired a portfolio of three hotels with 314 hotel rooms in Indiana, adding to its geographic reach.

The family-owned hospitality firm did not say how much it had paid for the Marriott- and Hilton-branded hotels, which include a 119-room Courtyard by Marriott in Evansville, a 112-room Hilton Garden Inn in Evansville and a Residence Inn with 83 rooms in Columbus.

Evansville, located along the border with Kentucky, is the largest city in that region of the state, and third-largest in Indiana. Columbus, the state's 20th-largest city, is about 45 minutes from Indianapolis.

"This acquisition represents the next phase of growing the Hamister corporate family," said Chairman and CEO Mark E. Hamister. "Our growth this year has been nothing short of extraordinary."

Hamister, with both healthcare and hospitality businesses, manages 11 hotels, with two more under construction, for a total of 1,300 rooms. It also runs four senior housing communities with more than 600 units, and has another 120 units under construction. Additionally, it runs a home healthcare agency.
