An update of the air quality in Tonawanda will be held Tuesday, Dec. 6 at River Road Fire Company.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation will present its latest air monitoring data, info on ongoing air monitoring efforts, interpretations of the data and its implications, according to a news release from Clean Air Coalition, which is organizing the public event.
The DEC's last update of the Tonawanda Community Air Quality Study in January 2013 showed reductions of benzene and other air pollutants after operational modifications were made at Tonawanda Coke Corporation in response to DEC and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency inspections and enforcement actions.
The free presentation Tuesday begins at 6 p.m. at the fire hall at 39 Kaufman Ave. A question and answer session will follow. Call the Clean Air Coalition at 852-3813 for more info.
