Jamestown police report additional shootings in city

Jamestown police responded to three additional shootings following an incident early Thursday in which a man was killed and two other people wounded when multiple shots were fired outside 129 S. Main St., authorities said.

Police said the shots were fired shortly after 4 a.m. on Thursday, when an altercation broke out during a social gathering.

Then, at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, police were called to Falconer Street near Thayer Street after receiving a report of several shots fired at a moving vehicle, according to police.

No injuries were reported.

At 2:45 p.m. Friday at 344 E. 4th St., police officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired at an occupant in an apartment, authorities said.

The person was not struck, and the shooter fled the scene, according to Jamestown police.

A third incident occurred at 8 p.m. Friday near Lakeview at Euclid Avenue, where a vehicle driving by was reportedly hit once after multiple shots were fired, according to Jamestown police. Again, there were no reports of injuries, police said.

It's believed the shootings are targeted acts and not random, police said.

The investigation is attempting to determine if there is a connection to any of the incidents, and police asked witnesses to call an anonymous tip line at 483-8477.
