City Mission to deliver holiday meals to needy families

The Buffalo City Mission are getting ready to deliver 5,500 holiday meals to needy families on Thursday morning.

Staff and more than 200 volunteers are expected to help run the annual "Turkey Express," packing and distributing meals with all of the trimmings. The Thanksgiving meals are packed on-site and delivered inside festive hand-decorated bags to elderly, shut-in and impoverished individuals throughout Buffalo and the Western New York suburbs.

The Buffalo City Mission, founded in 1917, is a nonprofit organization providing preventative, emergency, and transitional housing programs to thousands of people who are homeless and impoverished. The Mission includes a Women and Children’s Shelter (Cornerstone Manor), the Men’s Community Center, and the BCM Thrift Store located on Dick Road in Depew to serve the Western New York community.
