Fire truck rides offered during expanded Downtown Winter Walk

NORTH TONAWANDA  - Vintage fire truck rides will replace  hayrides during the expanded  Downtown Winter Walk Friday through Sunday.

The annual event sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Association  features decorated storefronts in the downtown Webster Street area as well as  across the bridge in the City of Tonawanda.

A light-up downtown ceremony and shopping will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, with a chance to vote on your favorite store decorations.

Events from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday include rides on the fire truck, photo-op with Santa or snow princesses Elsa and Anna, petting zoo, Niagara County Sheriff's Office K-9 demonstrations, magic show, crafts shows. model train displays, gingerbread house and a shuttle bus to the Carnegie Art Center, Herschell Carrousel and the Train Museum.

Activities Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m., include a movie, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," at the Riviera Theatre and more shopping specials.
