Canisius soccer loses to Chaminade in state title game

Matt Vohwinkel scored three goals and assisted on two others in leading Chaminade High of Mineola to a 6-0 victory over Canisius in the boys soccer championship game of the Catholic High School Athletic Association.

It was the second straight championship for the Flyers and sixth overall.

Canisius (15-4) had advanced to the championship game with a 5-1 win over Holy Cross of Flushing as J.P. Bobak scored a pair of goals.

However, the Crusaders were no match for Chaminade in Sunday’s championship game. Chaminade defeated Canisius, 5-0, in last year’s CHSAA championship game, too.
