Falls seminar on Thursday focuses on children with special needs

NIAGARA FALLS -- Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will be launching a new program to address the care of children with special needs.

A free introductory seminar, "Navigating the Stages of Care for Children with Special Needs," will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursday in the hospital auditorium. The seminar is presented by Close the Gaps, a program of them medical center's Children's Health Home  and Niagara Family Resource Partnership.

The program will offer a basic introduction on the stages of care that families may encounter for children with intellectual, physical and developmental disabilities.

Areas to be discussed include early intervention, preschool and school-age special education, life transitions, adult services, youth law enforcement and community interaction through the church. Panelists and service providers will be on hand to answer questions.
