Town of Lockport police arrested a man who robbed two elderly women in separate incidents Friday and Saturday.

Matthew Biles, 31, was charged with 1st and 3rd degree robbery, according to police.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Friday, Biles pushed an 87-year-old woman to the ground as she entered an unidentified business off Robinson Road in the town. The victim suffered a broken left arm, a fractured nose and several abrasions in the assault, while Biles made off with her purse containing cash, credit cards and her personal identification. Police said Biles ran in the direction of Woodland Trailer Park in the town.

Police said Biles struck again shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday when a 73-year-old woman was exiting the same establishment and Biles took the victim's purse and ran. Three men who witnessed the robbery chased Biles and restrained him until police arrived.

Biles was arraigned in Town of Lockport Court and was being held in the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $50,00 bail.
