Buffalo City Mission starts annual turkey collection drive for needy at Thanksgiving

The Buffalo City Mission needs the public's help to meet its goal of collecting 2,500 turkeys for the needy before Thanksgiving.

The mission's annual turkey drive started today and runs through Nov. 21. Donations are accepted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 8 a.m. and noon on Saturdays at the mission, 100 East Tupper St.

The Buffalo City Mission plans to deliver more than 5,500 meals to the poor and homeless on Thanksgiving Day through its "Turkey Express." It will also serve more than 250 people at its annual Thanksgiving community meal.

Volunteers who want to help with delivering or serving food should call (716) 854-8181 or visit buffalocitymission.org.
