Derby man accused of Buffalo robbery, possessing crack cocaine

Robert Ruff, 29, of Erie Road, Derby, was arrested on robbery and drug charges Monday afternoon, Buffalo police reported.

Ruff was accused of pulling up to a man walking on Aldrich Place near South Park Avenue about 1:30 p.m. and demanding the man give him money. As the victim was handing over the money, the vehicle took off and dragged the victim for about 20 feet,  witnesses told police. Ruff appeared to have a gun under his shirt.

Police were able to obtain the license plate of the car and police put out an all-points-bulletin. Hamburg police later stopped the vehicle and took Ruff into custody. Ruff was turned over to Buffalo police officers, who  reported finding quantities of crack cocaine in his vehicle and in his clothing

Ruff was charged with third-degree robbery and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
