The News' Prep Talk Football Player of the Week for Week Eight

Matt Myers of Bishop Timon/St. Jude has been selected as the Buffalo News Prep Talk Football Player of the Week. Myers played a key role in the Tigers’ big win over Canisius - the top-ranked team in its class in the state - on Friday night. Myers ran for 86 yards and threw for 60 yards. He also kicked the game’s only extra point, and averaged 47 yards per punt on an extremely wet playing field.

Ian Baker of Springville (113 rushing yards, three touchdowns)

Brock Blecka of Franklinville/Ellicottville (177 passing yards and four touchdowns);

Matt Eldridge of Cleveland Hill (113 rushing yards with two touhdowns, 13 tackles on defense);

Garrett Boldt of Olean (91 passing yards with two touchdowns);

Kayier Fields of McKinley (139 rushing yards with three touchdowns);
