Two people on fishing boat rescued in Lake Erie

Two people who got aboard a dingy early Thursday afternoon as their 57-foot fishing boat was taking on water in Lake Erie were rescued by a boat of the Canadian Coast Guard, a spokesman for the Buffalo Command unit of the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The pair of boaters, the only people on the boat at the time, were rescued at 2:55 p.m. Thursday  in Lake Erie about 10 miles south of the the southern Ontario site known as Port Maitland, according to the Buffalo Coast Guard spokesman.

"They were wet but otherwise all right," according to the Coast Guard spokesman.
